About our Culture:

Our mission to change behavioral health starts with us and how we operate. We don’t want to just change behavioral health, we want to change the way startups operate. Here are a few tactical examples:

1) Improving accessibility and quality of healthcare is something we live and breathe. Everyone on Camber’s team cares deeply about helping clinicians and patients.

2) We have to have a sense of humor. Healthcare is so broken, it's depressing if you don't laugh with us.

We started Camber because we care about impact — the lack of supply for behavioral healthcare means those who need it most cannot access it. We believe this is one of the biggest problems out there today. It’s why we’re tackling this broken industry, and why we want you on this mission with us.

About The Role

You're a product engineer at heart. This is a role around using and developing and building AI tools into our internal product & processes. This is not research, this is about a) staying up to date on AI usage, tooling, observability, b) driving and finding ways to improve our processes at the company.

There's a huge breadth and depth here. Come define this vision with us.

Camber is looking for product-minded engineers who are passionate about making healthcare more accessible and affordable. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll focus on building user-facing products from the ground up: meeting directly with clinicians, exploring greenfield opportunities, and shipping fast, iterative improvements based on real-world feedback.

You’ll play a key role in shaping both the company's technical and product direction. This is an opportunity to move quickly, work closely with end-users, and drive meaningful impact in the lives of healthcare providers and the patients they serve.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead projects: Take products from 0 to 1. You'll identify problems, build alignment, and implement solutions autonomously from concept to launch.

  • Write great code: Our engineers strive to write code that’s not only functional, but readable, maintainable, and scalable. We move fast in greenfield areas — prototyping, testing, and iterating in tight loops.

  • Talk to users: Work closely with clinicians and administrators to deeply understand their workflows and needs.

  • Build team culture: We believe that great culture is essential to building great products. Help foster an engineering culture rooted in ownership, curiosity, and continuous learning.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience: Senior software engineers on our team have ~5+ years of software development experience. Additionally, for this role, we're looking for folks who spike in 0 to 1 greenfield development, and are comfortable interacting directly with users.

  • AI fluency: We believe that engineers are very much in the driver's seat, but expect that they are incorporating AI tools to boost speed and creativity — we should spend more time solving interesting problems and less time writing boilerplate!

  • Customer Empathy: Our engineers need to understand our customers’ pain points to build products that meet their needs.

  • Curiosity: We look for engineers who love learning new things. We don’t expect you to know everything about the technologies we’re using or our industry, as long as you’re curious and interested in learning.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive comp : $160,000 - $200,000 a year + stock options

  • Insurance: We cover 100% of the premium for an Aetna national plan, as well as dental and vision coverage.

  • Wellness : If you see a therapist who’s out of network we’ll reimburse up to $100/week. We also provide $100/month reimbursement for general wellness.

  • Much more: 401k, commuter benefits, daily team lunch! For a full list of perks and benefits see our Notion doc.

Camber is based in New York City and are prioritizing remote candidates for this position.

Perks & benefits at Camber:

  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision plans with nationwide coverage, including 24/7 virtual urgent care.

  • Mental Health Support: Weekly therapy reimbursement up to $100, so you can prioritize the care that works best for you.

  • Paid Parental Leave: Up to 12 weeks of fully paid time off for new parents ( birth, adoption, or foster care) .

  • Financial Wellness: 401K ( traditional & Roth ), HSA & FSA options, and monthly commuter benefits for NYC employees.

  • Time Off That Counts: 18 PTO days per year (with rollover ), plus office closures for holidays, monthly team events, company off-sites, and daily, in-office lunches for our team.

  • Fitness Stipend: $100/month to use on fitness however you choose.

  • Hybrid Flexibility: In NYC? We gather in the office 3–5x/week, with flexibility when life happens. Fridays are remote-friendly.

Camber is based in New York City, and we prioritize in-person and hybrid candidates. Please refer to the top of this page for this position's hiring location.

Building an inclusive culture is one of our core tenets as a company. We’re very aware of structural inequalities that exist, and recognize that underrepresented minorities are less likely to apply for a role if they don’t think they meet all of the requirements. If that’s you and you’re reading this, we’d like to encourage you to apply regardless — we’d love to get to know you and see if there’s a place for you here!

In addition, we take security seriously, and all of our employees contribute to uphold security requirements and maintain compliance with HIPAA security regulations.
