Finance Temp
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time Temporary (minimum of 20 hrs per week through end of May)
REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer
LOCATION: Downtown Brooklyn office. Hybrid-3-4 days in office.
SALARY: $30/hr ABOUT AAFSC: For over 30 years, the Arab-American Family Support Center (AAFSC) has proudly served immigrants and refugees. We help children stay safe, families remain together, and newcomers navigate life in New York City. While our doors are open to all, AAFSC has expertise in serving Arab, Middle Eastern, North African, Muslim, and South Asian communities. JOB SUMMARY:
The Finance Temp will provide short-term support to the Finance Department by assisting with day-to-day accounting and administrative functions. This role is critical in ensuring timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the team during a period of increased workload PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Support all accounting-related tasks as assigned (e.g., data entry, reconciliations, reports)
- Prepare and organize financial documentation and files
- Respond to internal finance-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Assist with audits, reporting, or funder documentation as requested
- Provide general administrative support to the Finance team
- Perform other finance-related duties as assigned
- Prior experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support roles required
- 3-5 years of nonprofit accounting experience with at least one year of grants management required
- Intermediate or Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting systems (ability to do v-lookups and pivot tables)
- Familiarity with nonprofit financial operations preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and follow established procedures
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check
- U.S. work authorization required as a condition of employment
