Our client seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead hands-on development across WordPress, Shopify, and a custom PHP application. The role will manage a team, drive the full software development lifecycle, and partner with stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions. The engineer will set technical direction, oversee planning and budgeting, and enforce best practices for quality, testing, and documentation.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity, offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Qualified applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis.

Salary: $130,000 - $150,000/ yr. w2

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a hands-on engineering leader, managing and mentoring development teams while contributing to code when needed.

• Lead project planning, estimation, and resource allocation to ensure timely and on-budget delivery.

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing software architectures.

• Oversee the full software development lifecycle from design through deployment and ongoing support.

• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements and priorities.

• Establish and enforce best practices around code quality, testing, and documentation.

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance development efficiency and output.

• Troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.

• Evaluate and recommend new technologies to support evolving business needs.

Experience Requirements:

• Strong experience with PHP, including frameworks such as Laravel.

• Front-end experience with React or Vue.

• Experience with HTML, CSS (SASS/LESS), JavaScript frameworks, and SQL.

• Proven background designing scalable and maintainable software architectures.

• Experience working with WordPress and Shopify (preferred).

• Knowledge of software development best practices, design patterns, and system performance optimization.

• Experience leading development teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.

• Effective communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
