FIRE SAFETY INSPECTOR

Fire Safety Inspector

Pay Status and Classification: Part-time, non-exempt. This is a 12-month position.

Work Days: 2-3 days per week; flexible.

Shift Start/End Time: Flexible, Monday - Friday located on the individual's need. Residential inspections are conducted during normal business hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.).

manager: Director of Environmental Health & Safety

Position Purpose: Performs monthly inspections for fire and life safety devices located at College-owned properties.

Essential Responsibilities and tasks:

» Fire Extinguisher Inspections: Inspects fire extinguishers following National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 10 standards. Conducts minor repairs for extinguisher brackets and cases.

» AED Inspections: Inspects Automatic Defibrillator Devices (AEDs) following American Heart Association recommendations. Maintain batteries and supplies.

» Carbon Monoxide Detector Inspections: Tests plug-in carbon monoxide detectors that are not connected to the Campus Safety notification system.

» Reporting: Maintains inspection spreadsheet and submits work orders to Facilities Services for major repairs. Participates in weekly Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) departmental meetings.

Qualifications required

»High School Diploma and a combination of significant training, certifications andor work practice.

»Valid U.S. Driver's License.

»Must be safety-conscious and be able to professionally communicate with a diverse group of campus community members.

» capability to ascend and descend stairs frequently.

» capability to stand and walk for extended periods. The job requires broad walking.

Preferred Qualifications required

» expertise of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), state and local fire and building codes.

»Fire safety training and practice.
The pay range for this job offer is $18.70 - $19.00/hour, commensurate with qualifications and practice.
