The Team You’ll Work With The Mayor’s Office of Appointments (MOA) is responsible for helping the Mayor in identifying and selecting candidates to serve as commissioners and other senior-level roles, as well as individuals to serve on more than 200 boards and commissions vital to the operation and growth of the City. MOA serves a critical role by providing talent recruitment support for the Administration, helping to build a strategy to create a sustainable and diverse talent pipeline for the Administration’s senior leadership positions. The Problems You’ll Solve The Vetting & Legal Research Manager's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Vetting: Conduct and manage vetting at all levels to assess candidates’ fitness to hold the public trust, to identify any flags that may suggest the candidate is not committed to our public service mission, and to identify anything in the candidate’s background that could embarrass the candidate, the Mayor, or the City should the candidate be appointed.
- Communication: Serve as an internal and external liaison, clearly, promptly, and cordially communicating timelines and expectations with both MOA colleagues and outside stakeholders.
- Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research and produce memoranda on legal, conflicts of interest, policy, and other topics related to the legal team’s work.
- Senior Legal Staffing: Provide research and administrative support for senior staffing (i.e., Commissioner and Deputy Mayor) searches and inquiries.
- You possess excellent research and writing skills.
- You are highly detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- You can exercise sound judgment and discretion and maintain the security of confidential documentation.
- You have an operational understanding of New York City agencies and the political environment.
ASSISTANT CORPORATION COUNSEL - 30112
Qualifications- Admission to the New York State Bar, or J.D. from an accredited college or university.
- 5+ years of work experience.
