Assistant General Manager

Shukette is looking for a passionate Assistant General Manager to join our hospitality team. Led by Chef/Partner Ayesha Nurdjaja — a 2022 James Beard Award finalist and 2023 semifinalist — Shukette is one of Chelsea’s most celebrated restaurants.

In 2021, the New York Times praised Shukette for its “extroverted, generous spirit” and a fresh approach to Middle Eastern cooking that was “long overdue in New York.” Four years later, in 2025, Shukette was recognized again, earning a place on the New York Times list of the Top 100 Restaurants in the city.

Our menus are rooted in responsibly and locally sourced ingredients, with a strong focus on seasonality. About the Role - We are seeking an Assistant General Manager to help lead our team and deliver exceptional hospitality. The AGM works closely with the General Manager, guiding both service and operations to ensure a dining experience that reflects our values: seasonal food, warm hospitality, and a vibrant neighborhood atmosphere.

What You’ll Do

• Support and inspire the front-of-house team with training, coaching, and accountability.
• Anticipate guest needs, engage with regulars and high-profile guests, and build new guest relationships.
• Liaise with culinary teams to support smooth service during high-volume shifts and maintain ticket-time standards.
• Oversee reservations and floor management, ensuring thoughtful service flow and special event execution.
• Contribute to financial and operational goals: scheduling, inventory, reporting, and vendor management.
• Uphold standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and DOH compliance.
• Support company projects and initiatives that strengthen our restaurants and our people.

What You’ll Need

• 3 to 4 years of management experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
• Valid NYC DOH Food Protection Certificate (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to hold teams accountable.
• Proficiency working with reservation systems (Resy), POS platforms (Toast), and HRM (Harri) preferred.
• Familiarity with basic financial reporting.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
