Position Overview

We are looking for a Prep Cook who is focused, reliable, organized, and passionate about supporting a high performing culinary team.

The Prep Cook plays an important role in the success of daily kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, following recipes, maintaining clean and organized workspaces, and supporting the culinary team with consistency and care. This person takes pride in the details, works with urgency, and understands that great service starts with strong preparation.

The ideal Prep Cook is eager to learn, receptive to feedback, and motivated to grow within a fast paced, high standards kitchen environment. This role requires attention to cleanliness, safe food handling, proper organization, and a team first approach.

The Prep Cook must be available to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Compensation: $20.00 to $23.00 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare food items as directed, following recipes, portioning guidelines, prep lists, and presentation standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift.
  • Assist with daily prep projects, including washing, peeling, cutting, portioning, labeling, storing, and organizing ingredients.
  • Follow proper food safety, sanitation, labeling, storage, and FIFO procedures.
  • Demonstrate safe and proper use of knives, kitchen tools, and equipment.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries as needed.
  • Communicate clearly with chefs, managers, and team members regarding prep needs, product levels, and station readiness.
  • Support service by ensuring prepared items are completed accurately, on time, and to standard.
  • Participate in daily and weekly cleaning projects, including refrigeration, storage areas, equipment, prep areas, and shared kitchen spaces.
  • Uphold Catch Hospitality standards for professionalism, cleanliness, teamwork, and respect.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Basic knife skills and general understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation.
  • Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, verbal direction, and written instructions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to stay organized and focused in a fast paced kitchen environment.
  • Willingness to accept coaching and feedback in a positive and productive manner.
  • Able to work in a standing or walking position for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 to 2 years of experience as a Prep Cook or similar role in a high volume, upscale, or fine dining restaurant.
  • Experience with proper receiving, labeling, storage, and product rotation.
  • A proven track record of dependability, consistency, and commitment to high standards.
  • Culinary school or accredited culinary program experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands for this position include seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving intermittently during working hours. This position may require frequently lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
