We’re looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join our team in NC.

This is a hybrid role, with in-office work on Wednesdays.

As an Associate Software Engineer, you will be part of a high-performing, dynamic team responsible for designing and developing software applications for our 3D Printing business partners. As part of our Global Technology Services (GTS) team, you will collaborate with experienced engineers and other team members to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet our business needs.

What you'll do

• Develop new features for applications using Java, Spring, Angular with typescript, and PostgreSQL
• Design, implement, debug and deliver high quality software
• Collaborate with team and architects to build application solutions with a high degree of complexity
• Participate in requirement, design and code reviews
• Create unit and automated acceptance tests
• Investigate and resolve issues while working with different functional areas
• Build quality and resilience into application solutions
• Adhere to best practices and innovate iteratively and proactively
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation in support of global software systems

What it takes

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Basic understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Strong communication skills and work ethic
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Eagerness to learn new technologies and improve technical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Java development experience
• Proficient in Java, SQL, HTML, TypeScript and using modern IDEs
• Knowledge of or experience with multiple patterns and platform technologies like client/server, web services, SOA, or MVC
• Internship or coursework related to software development

$72,600 - $96,900 a year

Protolabs offers a competitive total rewards package, and compensation mix vary based on position, such as base wage, as well as other earnings including incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, job function, work experience, specialized skills, training, education, and certifications.

Physical Demands:

Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
