Job Description

onsemi’s semiconductor fabrication facility in Syracuse, NY is looking for a highly skilled Photo Equipment Engineer with expertise in Vertical Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology to join the team. Our technology enables the next generation of power conversion, accelerating the transition to high efficiency, high power conversion solutions and inspiring new power system architectures. This role is critical to the development, optimization, and sustainment of photolithography and related process equipment supporting next-generation GaN-based devices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, and sustain photolithography equipment for vertical GaN wafer processing.
• Own and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize tool uptime, yield, and performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment and process issues to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, process, and manufacturing teams to integrate new technologies and drive continuous process improvement.
• Lead vendor engagement and technical alignment to support tool performance, upgrades, and key operational metrics.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, industry standards, and cleanroom best practices

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a photolithography equipment owner, preferably in R&D or GaN device fabrication environments.
• Hands-on experience with steppers, tracks, and lithography-related metrology tools.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor physics, with emphasis on GaN material properties.
• Proven expertise in equipment calibration, maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

• In-depth knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes and manufacturing equipment.
• Experience working in cleanroom environments, including contamination control protocols.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented and methodical approach.

is excited to share the base salary range for this position is $98,700.00-$167,700.00 range exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of internal equity of our current team members. We also offer a competitive benefits package.
