ReStore Donation Ambassador/Driver - Yonkers

Reports to: ReStore Manager

Employee Status: Hourly, 35–40 hours a week, Monday–Friday

Compensation: $18/hour

Job Overview: This position is responsible for picking up ReStore donations from Individual Donors & Corporate Donors, assessing the donation’s suitability, safely packing the merchandise in the ReStore truck, and driving to the ReStore to unload merchandise. The Driver must act as a “Donation Ambassador” of Habitat for Humanity ReStore while interacting with Donors and Corporations. This position is based at 470 Nepperhan Ave., Yonkers NY 10701.

Detail of Responsibilities:

Working with and managing volunteers.

Drive Habitat NYC vehicles to pick-up and deliver donated goods

Load and unload all donated materials.

Maintenance checks of HFHNYC ReStore vehicles.

Evaluate donations for ReStore suitability.

Providing a Charitable Donation Receipt at the time of donation pick up.

Must have willingness to learn cash register POS system.

Communicating with ReStore Manager regarding incoming donations.

Maintain an effective working relationship with ReStore donors, staff, volunteers, and customers.

Daily cleaning and straightening of ReStore loading/processing areas.

Skills and Qualifications:

Experience as a Driver of Commercial vehicles in New York City.

Knowledge of NYC “Commercial Vehicle Restrictions” of certain roadways.

Must be a good listener and be able to engage in well-considered discussions.

Must have good anticipatory abilities and personally act as need arises.

Must be willing to understand the big picture of Habitat for Humanity NYC and Westchester and know that ReStore is only a part of the larger goal.

Physical demands:

Required to lift 50 pounds regularly / required to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally.

Will experience frequent lifting, bending, squatting, and repetitive motion.

Ability to spend majority of the day driving, standing, moving heavy items.

This position will occasionally be exposed to extremes in weather (e.g., heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, etc.).

Work may require using GPS, power tools, climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions.

Position Requirements

Experience as a Driver of Commercial vehicles in New York City.

Knowledge of NYC “Commercial Vehicle Restrictions” of certain roadways.

Must pass Criminal Background Check, and DMV check

Must have valid NY State driver’s license, and a clean driving record.

This position is a 5-day work week.

Ability to speak Spanish a plus but not required.
