Location: Binghamton, Vestal, and the Town of Union
Compensation: $20/hour
Hours: Flexible scheduling; weekend and evening availability preferred
Reports to: Field Director

About the Campaign

Democrat Dan Norton is running for the 123rd State Assembly seat. Norton is focused on the challenges facing the Southern Tier and fighting for our communities, our families, and our future. Norton will address high energy prices and hold utility companies accountable, support more housing ownership and tenant opportunities in all parts of the district, prioritize healthcare access and lower costs, and work to expand access to childcare and Universal Pre-K. Norton will work to pass Dignity Not Detention Act and the New York For All to keep ICE out of our communities. Norton also beleives that housing and healthcare are human rights. Everyone deserves a place to call home, whether as a home buyer or a renter, and access to affordable, quaility healthcare.

About the Role

Paid canvassers are at the heart of our campaign! You'll go door-to-door, talk to neighbors, and share why electing Norton will make the 123rd AD thrive. You will work to help elect a candidate who has deep roots in our community and who will work tirelessly to deliver meaningful results for our community.

Responsibilities

• Knock doors and have one-on-one conversations with voters about Norton's priorities
• Work with the team to meet weekly voter contact goals
• Accurately record data and voter feedback in MiniVAN (training provided)
• Follow assigned schedules and communicate promptly with staff
• Attend trainings and team meetings
• Represent the campaign respectfully and energetically in the community

• Strong communicator and active listener
• Dependable and self-motivated
• Passionate about community change and social justice
• Works well independently
• Comfortable walking and engaging outdoors for several hours a day
• Reliable transportation is preferred but not required
