Bartender

Chef Sujan Sarkar is bringing his Michelin-Starred Indian tasting menu concept, Indienne Chicago , to New York This Spring. We are looking for committed Front of House professionals looking to join our opening team as we bring his vision to life.

The Bartender position at Indienne New York is a pooled-tip service role that focuses on Sales and Service of Food and Beverage as the primary guest-facing role throughout the Dining Experience Essential Duties of a Bartender at Indienne New York include communicating menu information to guests, taking orders and communicating those orders to the Back of House team, and coordinating with Back Servers and Front of House Hourly positions for general maintenance of the Dining Room.

This is the first of three concepts we're opening in the space over the course of the next three months, and seniority has its privileges. 

This staff member coordinates with the Back Server Staff, Sommeliers, and Expediters to conduct Service as direct reports to FOH management. 

Essential Duties

• Optimally tailor each guest’s bar experience
• Ensure food and beverage arrive to guests quickly and correctly; and confirming guest satisfaction
• Maintain the cleanliness of bar tools and bar areas
• Communicate respectfully with chefs (and kitchen team) as necessary
• Support team with beverage service to all dining room areas
• Assist in service preparation including but not limited to juicing and cutting fruit, preparing syrups, building garnishes and batches, etc.
• Complete all necessary opening and closing side-work according to standards and specifications set by the team in a timely and professional manner
• Responsibly serve alcoholic beverages
• Completing regular deep cleaning of the Bar area in compliance with NYCDOH and Company policy
• Full knowledge of food and beverage menu items
• Cleaning, polishing and maintaining stock of bar glassware and service-ware
• Able to create relevant and creative beverages based on requirements of guests or managers
• Constantly pushing and contributing to augmenting existing systems
• Confident and correct use of POS system for order entry and payment processing
• Work cleanly and maintain organization during service
• Communicate efficiently and respectfully
• Effectively communicating service irregularities to all
• Full knowledge of bar food and beverage menus, and able to guide guests to best order
• Full knowledge of Seahorse New York’s history, production paradigm, and guest experience profile and be able to answer FAQs
• Maintaining cleanliness of the restaurant
• Adhere to grooming and dress code standards
• Constantly pushing to creatively interpret positive guest relations and industry standards
• Adhere to covid-19 related health and safety standards
• Other General Maintenance and food service tasks as Assigned

Skills & Requirements

• Willing to train the right person but 2+ years of relevant experience preferred
• Must possess strong empathy and team spirit
• Exceptional communication, service and floor skills
• Ability to work in an organized and meticulous manner with strong attention to small details
• Solution-focused, receptive to constructive criticism and general performance feedback
• Must have strong interest in food & wine, & the business of hospitality
• Uncompromising work ethic with a relish for new challenges

 

 Physical Demands

The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 4 to 8 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours.
