The Financial Assistant will assist in the preparation of grant requests, audits and documentation, monthly management reports and accompanying schedules.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and processes grant work to include data entry and tracking for budget submissions and audits.
- Prepare and review monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
- Prepares general ledgers journal entries
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports and accompanying schedules
- Assist with the preparation and completion of quarterly NYS excise tax returns
- Maintain procedure and workflow documents
- Assist with special projects assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Two-year degree in accounting or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous grant preparation and processing preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments
- Ability to take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
- Able to work collectively with the accounting team associates and personnel supervisors
- Superior organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Pass all pre-employment screenings
