Gas Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Gas Engineer to join the team of one of their largest utility clients in the NYC area. Under direct supervision, the Engineer supports the design, execution, and commissioning of gas and/or power generation infrastructure projects of basic to moderate complexity. This role manages projects from design through construction and startup, including design reviews, budgeting, bid evaluation, construction oversight, and commissioning. The Engineer works closely with internal teams and external contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

The position involves both office and field work, including regular travel to utility facilities such as LNG plants and compressor stations. The Engineer provides technical support during construction, resolves field issues, participates in safety meetings, and supports equipment testing and system startup. The role also includes on-call emergency response responsibilities and requires availability during nights, weekends, or holidays as needed. A strong focus on safety, collaboration, and operational excellence is essential.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering

• 3+ years of engineering experience in gas utilities, power generation, or a similar energy/industrial environment

• Knowledge of gas systems or power generation equipment

• Experience supporting projects through design, construction, and commissioning

• Understanding of utility safety and process safety standards

• Ability to work in field environments and respond to system emergencies

• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Valid driver's license - Professional Engineer (PE) license

• Experience with LNG facilities and/or compressor stations

• Background working for a regulated utility or large energy company

• Experience coordinating contractors or overseeing design efforts
