About Our Culture
Our mission to change behavioral health starts with us and how we operate. We don’t want to just change behavioral health, we want to change the way startups operate. Here are a few tactical examples:
1) Improving accessibility and quality of healthcare is something we live and breathe. Everyone on Camber’s team cares deeply about helping clinicians and patients.
2) We have to have a sense of humor. Healthcare is so broken, it's depressing if you don't laugh with us.

About The Role
Camber is looking for engineers passionate about making healthcare more accessible and affordable. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Claims Lifecycle team, you’ll dive into the heart of healthcare — transforming complex, opaque payment systems into simple, reliable experiences. You'll be building the billing engine that powers all our claims — eligibility, claims submission, remit processing, patient invoicing, bank reconciliation — core workflows that impact every provider and patient who depend on Camber. Claims lifecycle is the heart of our company.
What you’ll do:
- Automate complex claim workflows from internal tools to full end-to-end systems.
- Scale our systems to track money movement — from claims submission to payment allocation — across thousands of providers and payers.
- Support our internal teams such as sales, customer support, and product teams to drive down denial rates, accelerate collections, and deliver greater transparency to better serve our customers.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience : 5+ years of experience working on production systems.
- Mission-driven mindset: Driven to deliver a seamless, high quality billing experience that helps clinicians collect more, faster — letting them focus on providing care, not managing claim denials or rejections.
- Customer Empathy: Our engineers need to understand our customers’ pain points to build products that meet their needs.
- Curiosity: We look for engineers who love learning new things. We don’t expect you to know everything about the technologies we’re using or our industry, as long as you’re curious and interested in learning.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive comp : $160,000 - $200,000 a year + stock options.
- Insurance: We cover 100% of the premium for an Aetna national plan, as well as dental and vision coverage.
- Wellness : If you see a therapist who’s out of network we’ll reimburse up to $100/week. We also provide $100/month reimbursement for general wellness.
- Much more: 401k, commuter benefits, daily team lunch! For a full list of perks and benefits see our Notion doc.
$160,000 - $200,000 a year
Camber is based in New York City, and we prioritize in-person and hybrid candidates. Please refer to the top of this page for this position's hiring location.
Building an inclusive culture is one of our core tenets as a company. We’re very aware of structural inequalities that exist, and recognize that underrepresented minorities are less likely to apply for a role if they don’t think they meet all of the requirements. If that’s you and you’re reading this, we’d like to encourage you to apply regardless — we’d love to get to know you and see if there’s a place for you here!
In addition, we take security seriously, and all of our employees contribute to uphold security requirements and maintain compliance with HIPAA security regulations.
