Manager
Malai is a super premium ice cream company that focuses on robust South Asian flavors and whole quality ingredients. We are seeking managerial role candidates for our New York City store to help oversee the shop and ensure an exceptional customer experience, particularly during our busy summer season. - Develop strategies to increase store traffic and to optimize profitability
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through staff training, monitoring, and coaching, and resolve all store related customer issues promptly
- Meet with store staff regularly to ensure that all are up-to-date with brand and flavor knowledge, as well as any new systems or procedures
- Be aware of all current marketing programs/promotions and ensure that the store is merchandised correctly
- Based on store needs, make recommendations for hiring, assist in the hiring process, and train all new staff
- Schedule all FOH staff shifts by balancing between forecast needs and labor costs
- Ensure that the store is never out of stock by conducting regular weekly inventory and by submitting on-time orders for ice cream and paper goods to the director of operations for approval and processing
- Update third-party systems, such as Otter, daily with product availability and any special changes as needed
- Actively assist in daily service, especially during periods of high foot traffic
- Coordinate events and catering orders
- Manage cash drawer and make regular weekly bank deposits
- Ensure that all deliveries are properly received and organized
- Conduct Weekly Inventory and End of Month Inventory
- Maintain equipment in the store and coordinate with external vendors when repairs are needed or other facility issues arise
- Enforce the highest level of cleanliness and safety standards by ensuring that the facility is consistently up to code with the DC Department of Health standards
- Must have a NYC food handler's license.
- 1-2 years of prior supervisory experience in a food/beverage or retail environment
- Passion for what you do – you love both the people and business sides of the food industry and are great at thinking through both challenges and opportunities in either area.
- Adaptability and flexibility – you recognize that in the food industry, anything can – and will – happen, and you’re able to calmly troubleshoot issues.
- Eye for detail – you understand how to break down larger goals into day-to-day action and are inherently meticulous and strategic.
