Health and Safety Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Health and Safety Manager reports to the Vice President of Field Operations and leads company-wide safety and environmental initiatives. This role supports project teams through planning, compliance, training, and continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance. This job gives you the opportunity to get into the field and have a direct impact on exciting projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as a safety resource to project teams for planning, site audits, incident reporting, and subcontractor safety management. The Health and Safety Manager will develop and implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Support preconstruction and estimating with safety planning, documentation, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Partner with insurance carriers and regulatory agencies, including OSHA and NYS DOL, to ensure compliance and strong working relationships.
- Monitor safety performance across all projects and report insights to operations leadership.
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs and ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting.
- Coordinate with third party safety consultants and support subcontractor prequalification with Risk Management.
- Lead safety training programs, onboarding, and company-wide safety initiatives, including stand down events.
- Review safety related content for proposals and marketing materials.
- Support incident investigations and OSHA communications as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, occupational safety, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in construction safety or health and safety management.
- Relevant certifications including OSHA CSM and 500/501, HAZWOPER, ASSP Fall Protection strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong Time Management skills.
- Willingness to put on a hard hat and PPE while supporting field operations.
COMPENSATION:
- $100,000-$120,000 annually, compensation commensurate with experience.
