Public Sector Solutions Analyst - Early Talent Program 2027

Swiss Re
New York, NY
Location: New York, NY, US

Join Swiss Re's Graduate Programme and develop the skills to help governments and communities build resilience to the world's most pressing risks.

We’re looking for intellectually curious, motivated early-career talent who are completing or have recently completed a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree and want to grow, learn, and make a difference. If you have no more than three years of professional experience and are excited to build expertise in risk, insurance, and resilience, we encourage you to apply for our rotational Swiss Re Graduate Programme, which starts in Fall 2027.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in the complex, multifaceted, and fast-paced world of global reinsurance and commercial insurance, have an opportunity to rotate into different teams, and receive tailored training to build your expertise over the course of the program, generally 18 months. This is your opportunity to shape your career, help protect societies from the world’s most threatening hazards, and contribute to making the world more resilient.

By the end of the program, you’ll have built the skills, foundations and network to pursue a wide range of career opportunities within Swiss Re.

About the Role

As a Public Sector Solutions Analyst, you'll help governments, public-sector organizations and development institutions better understand and manage risk. Working alongside experts across underwriting, analytics, client management and structuring, you'll contribute to innovative solutions that strengthen financial resilience against natural catastrophes, climate risks and other emerging challenges.

You will:

  • Conduct research and analysis to support public-sector risk solutions

  • Evaluate market opportunities, client needs and risk trends

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop client recommendations and innovative solutions

  • Contribute to presentations, proposals and materials used in client engagements

  • Gain exposure to insurance, reinsurance and capital markets solutions that help protect communities and public finances

About the Team

Public Sector Solutions develops risk transfer and risk management solutions for governments, public-sector entities, NGOs and development finance institutions around the world. The team combines technical expertise, analytics, and market insights to help organizations build resilience against natural catastrophes, climate change and other emerging risks.

As part of the Graduate Programme, you'll work with experienced professionals across a variety of projects and transactions while developing both technical and commercial skills.

About You

We are looking for people who:

  • Have completed, or are about to complete, a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in economics, finance, engineering, actuarial science, mathematics, environmental science, public policy, data analytics, or another analytical discipline

  • Have demonstrated academic rigor through course selection and performance; a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 is expected

  • Have no more than three years of professional experience

  • Are intellectually curious about risk, resilience, climate, public-sector challenges and how insurance can help address real-world problems

  • Think analytically, enjoy working with data and can translate complex information into clear insights

  • Are self-aware, seek feedback, and apply it to keep growing

  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Are curious about AI and emerging technologies and how they can be used responsibly to enhance analysis, learning, and efficiency

These additional skills and experiences will be considered differentiating factors:

  • Exposure to insurance, reinsurance, public policy, climate risk, catastrophe risk or financial services

  • Familiarity with tools such as Python, R, VBA, GIS, Power BI or similar analytical platforms

  • Additional language skills, particularly Spanish or German

The base salary for this role is $70,000. Candidates with advanced degrees may be eligible for a higher base compensation. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only and do not include short-term incentives or other benefits offered.

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at minimum three days per week.

Please note : Graduate and Intern positions at Swiss Re are not eligible for US work authorization sponsorship.
