Business & Operations Manager/Head Start
Summary of job duties
The Business & Operations Manager provides administrative, operational, and fiscal support to ensure the efficient functioning of the Head Start/Early Head Start (HS/EHS) program. This role oversees business systems, facilities, technology, ordering, in-kind contributions, and operational compliance in alignment with federal Head Start Performance Standards, organizational policies, and funding requirements.
Essential Functions
- Creation of Head Start; Early Head Start and UPK budgets and MOUs annually.
- Generate monthly financial reports for Director(s), Board of Directors, and Policy Council.
- Provide oversight of Head Start facilities and vehicles, including repair and maintenance.
- Perform supervisory responsibilities with assigned staff, in accordance with Pro Action Personnel Policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform and meet required role of Mandated Reporter.

Experience working with database systems and tracking systems and a variety of virtual platforms.
Strong organizational and analytical math skills.
Communication and language skills to comprehend documents and other correspondence.
Strong computer skills with confident knowledge of Excel Microsoft office and other office equipment.
Ability to interact with customers from a variety of backgrounds and with different levels of management.
Ability to exercise independent judgement.
Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in complex situations.
Experience in advocacy work.
Education requirements
Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology or equivalent with experience in a related field of work with 3-5 years’ experience in related field of work.
The ideal candidate must have a valid driver’s license, meet agency standards per position and consistent, reliable transportation that will allow regular travel in and around the service area.
