The anticipated salary range for this role is between $110,000.00 and $125,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The role is in the ABS Lending team within the Securitized Products and Capital Solutions (SPCS). Responsible for supporting the origination, structuring, and execution of securitization lending transactions across various asset classes, including: auto, credit card, unsecured consumer, private student loan, and esoteric (ex: digital infrastructure, royalties, whole business).

Role Objectives

  • Develop strong understanding of the securitized lending product across different asset types

  • Support mid and senior-level team in the origination, structuring, and execution of securitization lending transactions

  • Develop strong understanding of the bank's execution processes and systems

  • Support team in preparing presentation materials for client meetings

  • Contribute to the preparation of internal credit application materials

  • Contribute to the management of existing securitization transactions within the portfolio, including performance monitoring, annual reviews, and program amendments

Qualifications and Skills

Include but not limited to:

  • 1+ year of experience in structured finance preferred

  • Strong software and presentation skills (i.e. Microsoft Office)

  • Highly collaborative and flexible in a team and client environment with ability to form good relationships internally and externally

  • Able to coordinate and communicate with various internal departments across the bank locally and internationally

  • Strong communication skills and ability to learn complex concepts

  • Works well in a culturally diverse and team-oriented environment

  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and an interest in continuous learning

  • Interest in the securitization product and market for securitization transactions
