Construction Foreman
About Adirondack Customs
Adirondack Customs is the Adirondacks' premier custom home builder — specializing in log homes, timber-frame structures, and conventional stick-frame construction. Our mission is simple: Build a Better Life — for our clients, our team, and our community.
We're not a volume builder. Every project is one-of-a-kind, and so is the craftsmanship behind it. We operate on four core values that aren't just words on a wall — they're how we show up every day:
- Quality — Do the job right. Every cut, every joint, every detail.
- Integrity — Do the right thing, even when no one's looking.
- Professionalism — Hold yourself to a higher standard — on the jobsite, in front of clients, and in how you lead your crew.
- Faith, Family & Team — We work hard and we take care of each other. Your family matters here, and so does the team you build around you.
The Role
We're looking for a Construction Foreman who can lead from the front — someone with master-level carpentry skills who isn't afraid to pick up a tool and work shoulder-to-shoulder with their crew, while also keeping the big picture in focus.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll run custom home builds from start to finish, manage your team daily, coordinate with subs, and be the person on-site who sets the standard for quality and professionalism. You'll report to the Construction Operations Manager and serve as the direct link between the field and the office.
If you're a seasoned carpenter who's ready to lead a crew, take ownership of exceptional projects, and grow with a company that values doing things right — this is your opportunity.
What You'll Do
Lead Your Crew
- Supervise and mentor a team of carpenters and laborers on active custom home builds
- Set the daily pace, assign tasks, and ensure every team member is working safely and efficiently
- Foster a positive, accountable team culture rooted in servant leadership — lead by example
- Conduct on-site training and develop your team's skills over time
Build at the Highest Level
- Perform master carpenter-level work: crown molding, stair layout, hip and valley roofs, coffered ceilings, cabinet installation, and mortise-and-tenon timber framing
- Read and interpret blueprints, architectural plans, and project specifications
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds project specs, building codes, and Adirondack Customs' quality standards
- Operate and oversee the safe use of all hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment
Manage the Jobsite
- Keep projects on schedule and within budget in coordination with the Construction Operations Manager
- Coordinate with subcontractors — ensure their work aligns with project requirements and address issues immediately
- Manage material deliveries, jobsite organization, and resource allocation
- Identify and resolve risks and issues in real time, escalating to leadership when needed
- Enforce all safety protocols and OSHA compliance — no exceptions
Represent ADK Customs
- Be the face of the company on the jobsite — interact with clients professionally and with transparency
- Communicate project progress, challenges, and updates clearly to leadership
- Use email, text, and mobile apps to stay connected and keep projects documented
What We're Looking For
Required
- 10+ years of progressive carpentry experience , including master-level skills in custom residential construction
- 5+ years leading a construction crew — you've run jobsites, managed people, and delivered results
- Expertise in advanced carpentry techniques : blueprint interpretation, complex framing, specialty trim and finish work, timber framing
- Strong leadership and communication skills — you can direct a crew, coordinate with subs, and talk to clients with equal confidence
- Problem-solver — you think on your feet, anticipate issues, and keep things moving
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to jobsites throughout the region
- Physically capable — able to lift 50+ lbs, work on your feet all day, and perform demanding construction tasks in all seasons
What Sets You Apart
- Experience specifically in log home or timber-frame construction
- Track record of developing and mentoring crew members
- Emotional intelligence — you lead with respect, stay calm under pressure, and bring out the best in your team
- Familiarity with project management tools and construction software
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training
Why Adirondack Customs?
- One-of-a-kind projects — Custom log homes and timber frames, not tract housing. Every build is a showcase.
- Lead, don't just manage — You'll have real ownership of your crew and your jobsites.
- Skilled team — Work with craftsmen who care about the trade and hold each other to a high standard.
- Values-driven company — Integrity, quality, and professionalism aren't aspirational here — they're the baseline.
- Work-life balance — We believe in faith, family, and team. Your well-being matters as much as the build schedule.
- Growth potential — As ADK Customs grows, so does your opportunity to lead bigger projects and develop your career.
