This position is part of the Web Applications team based in Boulder, CO, and reports to the Web Applications Manager. It will be fully remote, with the option to come on site to one of our offices, which are located in Boulder; Coralville, IA; and Redwood City, CA.

The Web Applications team is part of a software group tasked with creating and maintaining tools to accelerate the development and analysis of IDT’s distributed oncology assays. We are responsible for the user interfaces and APIs that allow our customers to run genomic analysis pipelines and interpret the results they produce. As an intern on this team, you will work closely with your colleagues to help us expand the capabilities of our software platform and enable precision medicine in laboratories, hospital systems, and research centers around the world. You’ll also help implement new features , fix bugs , and you’ll participate in code reviews to share knowledge and ensure high-quality code . You’ll consult with product managers, customer support , and R&D scientists to ensure that your work meets our users’ needs . Our tech stack includes Python, Django, React, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, and VMWare.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Help us build essential tools and maintain an outstanding user experience for cancer researchers and clinicians
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, bioinformaticians, and research scientists to implement new features
• Write structured, tested, readable, and maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge
  
  

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include

• Actively pursuing an undergrad degree in computer science, engineering, life sciences (biology, genomics, bioinformatics, etc.), or related field
• 2+ years of experience (can include school course work) with Python or similar general-purpose programming language
• first year MS students in bioinformatics are welcomed to apply
  
  

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

• Regular and consistent access to reliable internet and a designated remote working location
• OPTIONAL: may come on site to an IDT office if within commuting distance
  
  

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Basic web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Version control (Git/GitHub)
• Docker
• Life sciences (biology, genomics, bioinformatics)

The hourly range for this role is $25-$30 depending on skills and experience. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
