Duties Description The Community Correction Representative 1 supports the functions of the Office of Probation and Correctional Alternatives, Training Unit. Duties will include, but are not limited to:Specific duties include, but are not limited to:- Assist with functions as needed to execute and the development of the OPCA training plan by distributing the Annual Training Plan survey and compiling training data submitted by units within OPCA and by each local probation department.- Support the provision of training in the field of Probation and other Alternatives to Incarceration programs by booking locations, entering attendees into the visitor information system, coordinating food ordering if needed and ensuring all needed materials are on-hand.- Ensure timely submission of training provided by other units within OPCA by monitoring the training plan and prompting submission of training data on the first Monday of each month.- Facilitate the delivery of the Fundamentals of Probation Practice (FPP) Academy in Albany and support the delivery in academy locations across New York State.- Monitor requests to approve FPP applications from local sites and coordinate the delivery of training materials.- Maintain the FPP/BCPO files on Google Drive, ensuring the versions there are the most up-to-date files.- Maintain OPCA documentation of Anchor and Specialty certified instructors.- Maintain and update the Blackboard learning system and ensure files are up to date and enrollments are completed in a timely manner.- Instruct in the Fundamentals Academy as needed. - Participate in Quality Assurance process to ensure fidelity to the training curriculum provided by new and existing probation academies.- Attend and facilitate the training committee meetings on a quarterly basis. - Attend/facilitate all NYPAD meetings and assist in coordinating an annual in-person forum.- Prepare and distribute communications to the field - Maintain the OPCA training shared mailbox and answer inquiries as appropriate. For those inquiries that need further attention, route them to the appropriate personnel- Assist in the development of classes in Articulate- Prepare rosters for Non-MPTC classes for upload to Acadis- Complete CIR reviews, if assigned- Approximately 15% of travel is required.

Minimum Qualifications NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Community Correction Representative Trainee 1, NS: Four years of experience at the federal, state, or local level in a criminal justice or juvenile justice agency or a human services agency, which involved providing services to a criminal justice or juvenile justice population. An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master's degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.Community Correction Representative Trainee 2, NS: Five years of experience at the federal, state, or local level in a criminal justice or juvenile justice agency or a human services agency, which involved providing services to a criminal justice or juvenile justice population. A master's degree or higher in criminal justice, psychology, public administration, social work, or sociology can substitute for one year.Community Correction Representative 1, 18: Six years of experience at the federal, state, or local level in a criminal justice or juvenile justice agency or a human services agency, which involved providing services to a criminal justice or juvenile justice population. An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master's degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.*Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. This information can be found at Candidates are responsible for the evaluation fee.NY HELPS: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Community Correction Representative 1, SG-18: Permanent service in this title, or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-16 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law, or a reachable score on the Civil Service eligible list for this title. Community Correction Representative Trainee 1, NS: Reachable on the current eligible list; OR Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-12 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.
