Job Title: Full-Time 3K/Pre-K Lead Teacher (Maternity Leave Coverage – 3 Months)

Location: Brooklyn, NY 11239
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Position Type: Temporary / Part-Time (Approx. 3 Months)

About the Position

Our DOE-contracted early childhood education center is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic 3K/Pre-K Lead Teacher to provide coverage for a classroom teacher on maternity leave. This is a temporary, full-time position offering the opportunity to join a high-quality program that aligns with the NYC Department of Education (DECE) standards for early learning.

The ideal candidate is a reflective, nurturing educator who can maintain continuity of instruction and uphold the program’s commitment to providing an engaging, developmentally appropriate environment for all learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement the DECE-recommendedCreative Curriculumand developmentally appropriate practices that support the needs of 3- and 4-year-olds.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that fosters exploration, discovery, and growth.
• Utilize Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment tools to document children’s learning and progress.
• Collaborate effectively with the assistant teacher, education director, and site leadership to ensure instructional continuity.
• Communicate with families in alignment with DECE standards for family engagement.
• Ensure all classroom operations and documentation comply with DECE, DOHMH, and agency policies regarding health, safety, and program quality.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Preferred : New York State Certification in Birth–Grade 2 (Initial, Professional, or Permanent).
• Experience teaching in a DOE 3-K for All or Pre-K for All setting strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and NYC Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to the DECE vision of providing high-quality, equitable early childhood experiences for all children.

Compensation:

Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with education and experience, following DOE-aligned pay scale for contracted programs.
