CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer I opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.

Duration: 6 months

Overview:

Seeking a Mainframe Developer with hands-on experience in COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM, and CICS. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting applications, evaluating client requirements, and preparing technical solutions across diverse platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform systems analysis, design, development, and testing.

• Resolve issues, recommend solutions, and support day-to-day application needs.

• Prepare technical specifications and documentation.

• Lead small to medium project tasks and assist less experienced staff.

• Ensure compliance with risk, regulatory, and development standards.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Works under the supervision of a Technology Team Lead, independently handles analysis and development, and may lead or train junior staff.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

May direct or mentor less experienced staff on small to medium efforts.

Education and Experience Required:

• Mainframe: COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS

• Tools: File Aid, Panvalet, CA7, Xpediter

• Associate's degree + 4 years' development experience, or 6 years' combined education/work experience (including 4 years development).

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple moderately complex projects.

Education and Experience Preferred:

• Knowledge of Bank application framework and integrated systems.

• Subject matter expertise in supported applications.

• Ability to work independently or in teams, multitask, and take initiative.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
