Assistant General Manager
New American Restaurant & Bar
We are seeking a dynamic, service-driven Assistant General Manager to help lead the daily operations of a soon to be open, high-energy New American restaurant and bar. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values precision and consistency, and is passionate about building strong teams and memorable guest experiences.
The Assistant General Manager partners closely with the General Manager to drive performance across all facets of the business—service, people, product, and profitability.
This role is designed as a clear pathway to a General Manager position for the right candidate, with the expectation of growth as the business and team scale.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Service Excellence
- Lead service with a hands-on, floor-first approach, ensuring an exceptional and consistent guest experience
- Set the tone for hospitality, energy, and professionalism across all shifts
- Monitor dining room and bar execution, stepping in as needed to maintain flow and standards
- Uphold all service, beverage, and food quality standards
Team Leadership & Development
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of front-of-house team members
- Coach and develop staff through real-time feedback and structured follow-up
- Foster a culture of accountability, hospitality, and continuous improvement
- Assist in building schedules that balance business needs with team well-being
Financial Performance
- Support the GM in managing labor, cost controls, and overall profitability
- Understand key metrics (sales, labor %, prime cost) and take action to improve performance
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships as needed
Systems & Standards
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, health and safety regulations, and operational procedures
- Maintain organization across service, opening/closing routines, and side work execution
- Identify operational inefficiencies and proactively implement solutions
Bar & Beverage Oversight
- Partner with bar team to ensure strong execution of cocktail, wine, and beer programs
- Maintain service standards at the bar that match the dining room experience
- Assist in beverage inventory and cost management
- 2–4+ years of management experience in a high-volume restaurant or bar
- Strong understanding of both dining room and bar operations
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive performance
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Passion for hospitality, food, and beverage
