Sr Technical Engineer - Production Services

In This Role You’ll:
Paramount Tech is hiring a Senior Technical Engineer- Production Services who will be a pivotal member of the technology team supporting CBS Sports. The role will be responsible for providing expert hardware and software support for mission-critical computer systems used in both live and pre-taped broadcast events. This role ensures the reliability and performance of server-based digital video and audio control systems, graphics platforms, editing suites, teleprompters, newsroom systems (ENPS), automation solutions, and network infrastructure. Based on-site in New York City, the position demands technical leadership in high-pressure environments and active collaboration with internal and external partners to deliver seamless broadcast experiences.
Responsibilities Include:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex issues affecting broadcast systems, including digital video/audio servers, graphics and editing platforms, teleprompters, automation, and network infrastructure.
- Lead technical operations during major broadcast events, providing hands-on support and rapid problem resolution to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Work with broadcast, production, and IT teams to identify requirements, communicate technical information, and coordinate solutions.
- Administer and maintain network systems, including configuration, monitoring, and documentation of broadcast-related IT infrastructure.
- Implement and support IT technologies integrated with broadcast workflows, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
- Deliver high-quality customer service to internal users and external partners, addressing technical inquiries and calling out issues as appropriate.
- Document troubleshooting procedures, system configurations, and incident reports to support knowledge sharing and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in on-call rotations and shift work, providing technical coverage during critical broadcast windows and supporting remote event locations as needed.
Basic Qualifications You Bring:
3+ years’ experience working with commonly used IT technologies in broadcast facilities, such as networking, servers, and virtual machines (VMs)- Knowledgeable on industry cabling standards such as fiber, coax, Cat5/6
- Working knowledge of Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Linux
- Understanding of SQL, Signiant/Aspera, ENPS, and ENCO, highly desirable.
- Working with both studio and remote live productions is desirable.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of Audio, Video, Control Systems, Fiber-Optics, and MPEG broadcast distribution systems preferred
- Ability to generate and update system documentation.
- Ability to conform to Paramount Global security policies, initiatives, and compliance reporting.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Lucid Chart, AutoCAD
- Knowledge of network administration- routers/switches, subnetting, VLAN’s.
Bonus Skills:
Advanced technical degree (Bachelor's or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.- Industry certifications are strongly preferred (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert, SBE Certified Broadcast Technologist).
This position is based in New York City with regular travel to remote broadcast sites and event locations as required. Flexibility for on-call coverage and shift-based work is essential, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, aligned with broadcast schedules and operational demands. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, requiring adaptability and a proactive approach to emerging technical challenges. Sporting events take place on weekends, so you must be available to work weekends and flexible hours.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $115,000.00 - 135,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
