Financial Accounting Manager POST NUMBER: 454761

Compensation: $135,000-140,000 base plus bonus Overview:
Thriving Financial Services company is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Manager, Financial Accounting to lead their compensation accounting team. This high-visibility role is critical to managing one of the largest and most scrutinized expense lines on the firm’s P&L. You’ll work closely with the CFO and senior leadership, providing accurate, timely financial insights that support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the compensation accounting team, ensuring accurate execution of all daily functions.
- Oversee monthly compensation calculations and ensure timely, accurate reporting on the balance sheet and P&L.
- Monitor and update broker compensation based on contract changes; manage bonus accruals.
- Collaborate with senior leaders and desk heads to review and distribute commission reports.
- Maintain and reconcile equity compensation records and deferral bonus plans.
- Coordinate with Payroll and HR to communicate compensation and bonus information.
- Prepare journal entries for employee-related expenses including insurance, pension, and bonuses.
- Lead the compensation budgeting and forecasting process.
- Review payroll-related balance sheet accounts and monthly equity accruals.
- Partner with the Controls & Governance team to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
- Drive process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Support internal and external audits with relevant documentation and analysis.
- Deliver ad hoc financial analysis and lead special projects as needed.
Required:
- 4–8 years of accounting experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong understanding of compensation accounting and related financial processes
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUPs)
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills—able to explain financial data clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and engage with senior leadership
- Experience with equity compensation plans and bonus structures
- Familiarity with internal controls and audit requirements
