What is an Associate District Director – Distributed Energy Resources (ADD – DER)?
The ADD - DER is responsible for fostering customer relationships and the management of DER projects and programs such as Community Distributed Generation (CDG), Remote Net Metering (RNM), Community Choice Aggregation (CCA), and the Value of Distribution Energy Resources (VDER) compensation. Title/level is commensurate with practice.
What does an Associate District Director – Distributed Energy Resources do?
Working individually or with a team:
»Acts as the main point of contact with customers, developers, contractors, and engineers to manage DER project construction of large-scale DER interconnections through completion
»Provides coordination and management of site meetings, interconnection design, system testing, and utility account setup
»Independently resolves customer, CCA administrators, and DER generation operators matters including rates, billing, and service quality
»Participates in calls and provides input to NYS Joint Utilities, NYS Department of Public Service, and DER companies regarding NYSDERA policy
»Implements new DER programs and becomes a subject matter expert regarding Central Hudson electric tariffs for DER programs, electric construction standards, and National Electric Safety Code
»Maintains the highest level of accountcapability, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction
»Adheres to public service law, operating policies, code of conduct, and legal and ethical behaviors
»Provides appropriate oversight and control in assigned area of responsibility through appropriate use of company assets and fulfillment of organizational and personal goals and objectives
»Responsible for manager on call tasks for 3-4 weeks per year, acts on behalf of other Company managers as assigned
»Assists during major electric and gas emergency events
»Provides support for storm restoration efforts
What does it take to be an Associate District Director?
Required:
»Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of work practice in customer service, account management, project management, construction management, electric/gas services, utility operations or a related function/field
»Strong computer expertise including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the capability to lgain new computer software programs quickly
»Strong organizational expertise and the capability to multitask while scheduling, planning, and working on multiple projects simultaneously from inception through completion
»Excellent written/verbal communication expertise and the capability to satisfy requests with tact and diplomacy
»Must be customer-focused, self-motivated, and possess strong decision making and critical thinking expertise
»Must take initiative, independently solve problems, and follow through on assignments
»Strong interpersonal and presentation expertise
»Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
»Degree in engineering, business, project management, or a related field of study
»Technical, construction, or electric utility services background/practice
» practice in the electric or gas utility industry
» practice with DER projects and policies
