Administrative Assistant (Chautauqua Theater Company)

About the Opportunity
The Administrative Assistant works closely with the Chautauqua Theater Company's Producing Artistic Director and General Manager to provide general clerical support, manage schedules, respond to incoming communications, etc. This is a part-time position (5 hrs per week January - April, remote; 20 hrs per week May - August, in person; Fall hours TBD) and begins no later than March 1st, 2024.
About Your Work
The Administrative Assistant will work directly with the PAD and GM to:
- Provide general clerical assistance, including answering emails, scheduling meetings, electronic filing, data entry, etc.
- Manage the PAD's off-season calendar.
- Assist the GM with proofing paperwork, including contracts and other agreements.
- Work in collaboration with the seasonal Artistic Assistant on various tasks in support of the PAD.
- All other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing/proofing, knowledge of proper grammar, and a professional writing style
- Strong time management skills with adaptability to changing priorities, deadlines, and numerous concurrent projects
- First-rate interpersonal skills; ability and willingness to exercise professional courtesy and discretion at all times, and maintain confidentiality as required
- Demonstrated creative judgment, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Experience, ability, and commitment to work with and foster a diverse community of individuals and teams
- Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, G-Suite, Dropbox
About You
- Education - High School Diploma; Bachelor's Degree or expected graduation within 2 years preferred
- Experience - 1-3 years of Office/Administrative support

Chautauqua Institution owns and operates Chautauqua Hotel Company, a comprehensive hotel, food & beverage, conferencing, and events organization. The Institution's office in Washington, DC is located strategically for an ongoing role in the cultural conversations of the nation.
About Your Compensation
The compensation for this opportunity starts at $15/Hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $16/Hour.
Seasonal housing is not provided for this position.
