Travel Registered Nurse PCU Job

TLC Nursing
Plattsburgh, NY
Embark on a rewarding journey as a Registered Nurse on the PCU in Plattsburgh, New York, starting 12/01/2025 for a multi-week assignment that promises impactful, patient-centered care. In this role you’ll blend acute observation with progressive care expertise, guiding patients through recovery and transition while collaborating closely with physicians, therapists, and families. The PCU environment is dynamic—patients often require advanced monitoring, telemetry, and timely escalation when needs change—giving you the chance to sharpen critical thinking, expand your toolkit of interventions, and build leadership in care coordination. Beyond the bedside, you’ll have the chance to reflect on the beauty of Upstate New York, from the Adirondack Mountains to Lake Champlain’s sparkling shores and the historic streets of Plattsburgh, offering peaceful escapes after demanding shifts.

Working in Plattsburgh blends small-city charm with wide-open opportunities. You’ll experience a supportive community that values nursing expertise, with access to outdoor recreation, seasonal festivals, and cultural experiences at nearby universities and museums. And because our program supports national mobility, you’ll have opportunities to work across various locations in the U.S., broadening your clinical exposure—while still anchoring your practice in a region known for exceptional patient care and a collaborative health system. The location offers convenient access to transportation corridors, regional amenities, and a cost of living that helps you maximize earnings while keeping work-life balance intact. This combination makes Plattsburgh not just a work site, but a place to grow roots and enrich your professional perspective.

Core responsibilities include conducting thorough patient assessments, monitoring vitals and telemetry, administering medications and IV therapies, guiding patients through the step-down transition, and delivering meticulous discharge planning. You’ll partner with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans, educate patients and families, and ensure smooth handoffs at shift change. This role is designed for growth: you’ll gain exposure to complex cardiopulmonary cases, post-operative monitoring, and the nuances of risk stratification in the PCU setting, with opportunities to advance into senior or leadership tracks as you demonstrate clinical excellence and initiative.

Competitive compensation includes a weekly pay range of $2,138 to $2,241, with the potential for a sign-on or job-specific bonus and housing assistance to reduce relocation stress. We support ongoing career development through targeted clinical education, mentorship, and opportunities to extend contracts beyond the initial assignment, enabling you to deepen expertise in this specialty. The program emphasizes stability and satisfaction, with a robust support network and clear pathways for skill advancement within the PCU specialty. The role is structured to empower you to build confidence, master nuanced patient care, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

You will never travel alone: a dedicated team provides 24/7 support for travelers, from onboarding to on-site resources and troubleshooting. Our travel program is built around you—providing access to housing assistance, streamlined credentialing support, and real-time help during assignments—so you can focus on delivering exceptional patient care. Our company is committed to empowering nurses who drive patient outcomes, foster professional growth, and sustain a positive, collaborative work climate. We believe in recognizing expertise, promoting mobility across roles and locations when clinically appropriate, and offering the resources you need to thrive—mentally, professionally, and financially.

Ready to join a team that values your gifts and advances your career? Apply now to start your PCU journey in Plattsburgh and discover how this opportunity can elevate your practice, broaden your horizons, and enrich your life while you make a difference in patients’ lives every day. The hours and pay rates listed are estimates and may vary. Final compensation packages and guaranteed hours will be confirmed during the hiring process.
