POSITION: Secretary to the Superintendent/District Clerk

EFFECTIVE DATE: April 2026, 12-month position
DESCRIPTION:
The Starpoint Central School District is seeking a highly skilled and professional individual to fill the dual role of Secretary to the Superintendent and District Clerk. This position requires a blend of executive-level administrative support and official record-keeping. The ideal candidate must be capable of managing high-priority projects while maintaining a welcoming and professional environment for parents, staff, and the Board of Education. Outstanding skills in the areas of communication, organizational, and technological skills are required. Maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating professionalism at all times are key characteristics of the successful candidate for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the Superintendent's daily schedule, including internal meetings, community appointments, and regional obligations.
Act as the primary point of contact for the Superintendent's office, handling inquiries from parents and community members with tact and clarity.
Draft and proofread district-wide communications, ensuring all correspondence meets the highest standards of professional grammar and tone.
Coordinate logistics for administrative retreats, staff recognition events, and district-level committee meetings.
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding personnel matters, student records, and sensitive district negotiations.
Facilitate smooth communication between the Superintendent's office and building-level administrators to ensure district goals are met.
Prepare and organize all materials for Board of Education meetings, including the development of agendas and supporting documentation.
Attend all Board of Education meetings to record and publish official minutes in a timely manner.
Oversee the annual school board election and budget vote, ensuring compliance with all New York State legal requirements and deadlines.
Serve as the custodian of district records, managing the filing and retention of official policies, oaths of office, and legal contracts.
Post all required legal notices for public hearings and special meetings in accordance with Open Meetings Law.
Any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and five (5) years of office/clerical experience, college degree preferred.
COMPENSATION:
Salary $65,000 - $72,000, commensurate with experience
Compensation for District Clerk duties are included in the salary
