We are seeking an energetic, proactive Business Development Manager to join our team at our Plainview headquarters. This role is ideal for a driven professional with deep roots in the New York construction industry who thrives on building lasting connections and pursuing new opportunities. In this position, you will report directly to the President and play a key role in driving our growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the New York Metro construction market, targeting sectors aligned with our expertise (e.g., education, healthcare, retail, cultural, and public projects).
- Build and maintain a robust network of industry contacts, including owners, architects, developers, subcontractors, and key decision-makers.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to expand market share and secure new projects.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, upcoming projects, and competitive insights.
- Represent EW Howell at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote our services and generate leads.
- Collaborate with internal teams (estimating, preconstruction, and operations) to prepare compelling proposals and presentations.
- Track and report on business development activities, pipeline, and progress toward goals.
- Foster long-term client relationships to support repeat business and referrals.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Marketing, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5-7 years of business development or sales experience in the construction industry or related fields such as engineering, architecture, or similar, preferably in general contracting, construction management, or allied professions in the New York Metro area.
- Proven track record of success in generating new business and winning projects.
- Established professional network in the New York construction market (e.g., connections with owners, architects, engineers, and industry associations).
- Strong understanding of the NYC and Long Island construction landscape, including regulatory environments and key sectors.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic—willing to work hard, cold call, attend events, and persistently build connections.
- Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in-office at our Plainview, NY location, with travel throughout the New York Metro area as needed.
