New York, NY

Job Description

Job Description

Pay: $180,000.00 - $225,000.00 per year

WHY THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY

  • Step into a senior associate role at a well-established, full-service firm where you'll independently manage complex commercial litigation matters — real responsibility, real cases, real impact
  • Handle the full litigation lifecycle: from inception through depositions, hearings, trials, arbitrations, and appeals — no waiting around for scraps of work
  • Work alongside experienced partners in a collaborative, energetic environment that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously
  • Origination credit available — your business development and client contributions are recognized and rewarded
  • Discretionary year-end bonus and merit-based increases on top of a highly competitive base salary
  • Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and access to additional voluntary programs
  • A firm culture built on collaboration, integrity, and having fun while doing excellent work — no drama, no politics, just good lawyers doing good work

Location: This is a full-time, in-person role based in our New York City office — a dynamic, high-energy environment at the center of one of the world's premier legal markets. Active bar admission in both New York and New Jersey is required.

Note: This role requires 5+ years of substantive commercial litigation experience in a sophisticated law firm environment. Active NY and NJ bar admission is required — candidates without both will not be considered. Candidates without a strong commercial litigation background will not be considered.

ABOUT US

We are a well-regarded, full-service law firm with a proud history dating back to 1930 and a practice spanning 30+ areas of law — from commercial litigation and corporate transactions to real estate, estate planning, healthcare, and beyond. Our attorneys handle sophisticated matters for businesses, investors, and high-net-worth individuals across the country, and we're known for a collaborative culture where people genuinely enjoy working together. We're proud of our history and even more focused on where we're going. Confidential Employer.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Independently manage a caseload of complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, Orders to Show Cause, and other essential litigation documents
  • Represent clients in depositions and court proceedings including hearings, trials, arbitrations, and appeals
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategy and decision-making
  • Maintain effective, professional communication with courts, clients, and opposing counsel throughout all stages of litigation
  • Stay current with legal developments, industry trends, and best practices in commercial litigation
  • Draft articles for publication and contribute to firm marketing and practice development efforts
  • Bring a collaborative, no-nonsense, let's-get-it-done attitude to the team every day

QUALIFICATIONS

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • Active bar admission in both New York and New Jersey required
  • 5+ years of commercial litigation experience in a sophisticated legal environment
  • Strong knowledge of New York's CPLR, New Jersey's Rules of Court, and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Excellent drafting, research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong commercial and business acumen — able to provide practical, innovative legal solutions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management software
  • Knowledge of e-discovery and electronic documentation management
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

WHY YOU WILL LOVE WORKING HERE

This is a role for a litigator who wants to do real work — managing their own cases, appearing in court, and building a practice at a firm that actually rewards the effort. You won't be buried under a senior associate's shadow. You'll have direct client contact, real courtroom experience, and the support of experienced partners who want you to succeed. The culture is collaborative and energetic — the kind of place where people work hard, hold each other to a high standard, and genuinely enjoy the team they're part of. If you're a commercial litigator ready to take ownership and grow, this is the opportunity.
