Position Summary:
The Manager, Retail Experience is responsible for the oversight and operational management of the NYBG Shop experience. The Manager plans and delegates all aspects of NYBG Shop’s day to day operations, and ensures the smooth functioning of the shop. The ManagermanagesShop staff, while upholdinghigh standards of customer service, ensuresall shop spaces are clean and organized, and resolves any issues in a timely and professional manner reflective of NYBG’s standards.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages shop staff, including scheduling, addressing staffing concerns, escalation of employee concerns, andmakes recommendations forstaff professional development
- Works closely with the warehouse staff to streamline stockroom deliveries
- Responsible for all aspects ofcustomer service, deliveries, shop opening and closing procedures, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment
- Ensures proper care of all plants and basic knowledge of horticultural and non-horticultural products across all shop staff
- Responsible for assisting in the creation and execution of shop strategic and operational plans developed by senior retail management
- Works with the VP and Directors to optimize the efficiency of the shop including, markdown strategy, stock turn, in-store and online promotions and in-store events
- Manages the shop’s financial accounting and proper reporting
- Manages the POS system, cash register trouble shooting, and updating inventory
- Submits work orders and monitors their completion
- Trains staff to take on new professional opportunities and projects
- Maintains a strong line of communication with staff, and senior retail management, ensuring completion of projects
- Upholds the vision, standards, and procedures for NYBG Shop and Retail staff
Qualifications:
- 8+ years retailmanagement experience,horticulture experience a plus
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and delegation skills
- Keen eye for merchandising
- Attention to detail and professionalism in all interactions and correspondence
- Responsible and dependable, and the ability to function as both a leader and team player in a collaborative environment
- Knowledge of Shopify POS, Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Flexibility in working weekends and some evenings
- Ability to move or lift up to 30 pounds
Physical Demands & Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to, at minimum, work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, climb ladders, unload truck deliveries, and lift or move up to 30 pounds.

Baseline Work Schedule:
35-hours a week; Wednesday - Sunday, 9-5 and/or 11-7; occasional evenings and/or holidays required based on NYBG’s evening/events schedules.
Salary: $70,000
