Commercial Roofing Sales Rep

Business Development Representative – Commercial Roofing

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Business Development Representative is responsible for driving new business and growing key accounts within the commercial roofing market . This role serves as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, managing relationships from initial opportunity through project execution. Using a consultative sales approach, this position identifies client needs, proposes roofing solutions, and partners with internal teams to ensure profitable, successful project delivery.

This role requires proven experience selling commercial roofing services —including re-roofs, repairs, maintenance programs, and related solutions—to building owners, property managers, general contractors, and commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sell commercial roofing services to new and existing customers within an assigned territory

  • Serve as the lead point of contact for assigned accounts, including contract negotiations and pricing strategy

  • Build and grow high-margin commercial roofing business through relationship-based selling

  • Identify new opportunities within existing accounts and target new commercial clients

  • Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations and proposals

  • Coordinate closely with Service and Production teams to ensure accurate scope, pricing, and seamless handoffs

  • Maintain strong, long-term relationships with key commercial roofing accounts

  • Gather market, competitor, and customer intelligence to support sales strategy

  • Ensure timely delivery of roofing solutions that meet client objectives

  • Attend trade shows, industry events, and vendor meetings

  • Maintain sales activity logs, pipeline reports, and internal documentation

  • Partner with Marketing to support lead generation, branding, and event coordination

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years commercial roofing sales

  • Demonstrated ability to sell commercial roofing services such as re-roofs, repairs, maintenance programs, and capital projects

  • Proven success building relationships based on trust, professionalism, and long-term value

  • Strong negotiation and closing skills

  • Ability to qualify leads, manage a pipeline, and close business in person, by phone, and virtually

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational, time management, and follow-up abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Ability to travel throughout assigned territory; valid driver’s license required

  • Ability to climb ladders and visit commercial job sites

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage customer issues professionally

  • Ability to read and interpret contracts, proposals, and technical documentation
