The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Early Intervention Specialist 2 (EIS 2) will work in the Provider Approval, Due Process, and Monitoring Unit (PAU) in the Bureau of Early Intervention (BEI), within the Division of Family Health (DFH). Responsibilities include but are not limited to: participating in developing and updating monitoring protocols and other related monitoring documents, evaluating provider/municipality corrective action plans (CAPS), providing timely responses to provider/municipality questions about monitoring and CAPS, working with the monitoring contractor team as the primary liaison, ensuring all required Verification of Correction is completed by contractor within required timeframes; providing technical assistance to BEI staff, providers and municipalities related to EIP program guidance, regulations, and Part C requirements; responding to phone calls and emails from parents, providers and municipalities pertaining to monitoring. Participate in developing, updating, producing, and disseminating early intervention education/public awareness material. Additional responsibilities of professional staff include supervision of assigned Unit staff, drafting documents to communicate EI program policies and procedures to various groups, gathering required monitoring information for development of Federal Reporting as it relates to monitoring activities annually, and following up with providers and municipal officials as needed to ensure the effective operation of the Program.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications NY HELPS: Four years of the experience described below, one year of which must have been at a supervisory level.Substitution: a master's degree may substitute for one year of the general experience, and a doctoral degree may substitute for an additional year of the general experience.Experience must have included the provision of Early Intervention services to children under age five, with or at risk for disabilities, as well as services to their families. Examples of services include, but are not limited to, occupational or physical therapy, speech language pathology, and Early Intervention service coordination.Experience must have been in an approved Early Intervention program under Article 25, Part 69, of the New York State Public Health Law, and Title 10 of the New York Codes, Rules, and Regulations; or in an approved Preschool Special Education program under Section 4410, of the New York State Education Law, where the primary focus is providing Early Intervention services to children under age 5. Experience may also have been in a professional position in a public or private setting, developing, administering, and evaluating approved Early Intervention programs.
