Med/Surg RN Job Details – Utica, NY

• Location: Utica, NY 13502 (Central New York healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Medical/Surgical – Stroke Stepdown Unit (64 beds)
• Position Type: Travel Nurse / Locum Tenens RN
• Assignment Dates: October 20, 2025 – January 17, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
• Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30p–7a)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,110 - $2,170
• Floating: Required to other units as needed
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• EMR System: EPIC

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New York RN license (NY nursing jobs) and all other active RN licenses
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Med/Surg RN in a Stroke Stepdown Unit
• Documented travel nursing experience (locum tenens or contract RN)
• Current AHA BLS certification
• NIHSS certification (stroke care)
• Skills checklist matching medical/surgical specialty
• 2 recent Med/Surg Charge/Manager RN references
• Up-to-date nursing resume
• Valid driver’s license with address matching demographics
• NURSYS report for license verification
• Experience with EPIC EMR system

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with stroke, altered mental status, renal/dialysis, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, pulmonary, and general med/surg conditions
• Operate and manage specialty equipment including IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes
• Monitor, assess, and document patient status and progress using EPIC EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care
• Float to other medical/surgical units as required
• Maintain accurate records and adhere to hospital policies and nursing best practices
