New York Region Design Manager

Position Purpose: Manage the graphic & structural design team for the New York Region plants (Rochester, Syracuse, Plattsburgh), hiring/training, collaborate on projects, delegate tasks and check for quality and consistency.

Duties & Responsibilities: Tasks related to this position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:

• Full-time role in an office/design department setting
• Follow and promote established safety rules, policies and procedures at all times
• Manage designers and design trainees
• Recruiting & Hiring of new design talent
• Oversee the process of completing structural/graphics projects
• Maintain quality standards throughout the department
• Ensure all projects are completed timely and accurately
• Perform the purchasing function for outside services
• Process sample/quote request information received from sales and customer service
• Design structural/graphic concepts and renderings using electronic tools provided
• Achieve proficiency in and utilize company project management software
• Collaborate with customers to ensure producible structural/graphic designs
• Verify and test designs/samples for agreement with project requirements
• Compile, prepare, issue, and maintain specifications
• Assist with production, customer service and sales process as needed
• Other duties as assigned
• Travel across BCI plants and customer visits as needed.

Skill Set:

• Strong attention to detail
• Strong knowledge/expertise in structural & graphic design a must.
• Creativity- the design leader will promote and enhance the departments creativity through infusion of fresh ideas, new talent, etc.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, trouble-shooting, and creative abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD, 3d modeling software and Illustrator

Qualifications Desired:

• 4-year college degree in packaging, design and graphic techniques or equivalent
• 4-6 years of experience in structural and graphic design, preferably in the corrugated industry and with management experience

Salary Range: $85k-$100k annual base salary, plus annual STI bonus, including:
