Job Description: The Stony Brook University School of Nursing invites applications for a 0.8-1.0 FTE faculty appointment within our Graduate Program, along with the opportunity to serve as Program Director of the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) program. This is an exceptional chance for an experienced Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to play a key role in educating the next generation of advanced practice nurses while contributing to the continued development and growth of an established graduate program within a nationally recognized academic health center. We seek a dynamic clinician-educator with recent adult-gerontology acute care clinical experience who demonstrates excellence in advanced practice and a commitment to graduate nursing education. Candidates with experience precepting nurse practitioner students, teaching in upper division or graduate nursing programs, and/or serving in leadership or supervisory roles are strongly encouraged to apply. Program Director Opportunity The selected candidate will also serve as Program Director for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) program, providing academic oversight and leadership for a program that prepares advanced practice nurses to deliver high-quality care to acutely and critically ill adult and older adult populations. The Program Director reports to the Department Chair, with collaboration and consultation from the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Dean. In this role, the Program Director will:
- Provide leadership for the AGACNP curriculum and program outcomes
- Guide program evaluation and continuous improvement aligned with professional standards and accreditation expectations
- Ensure program quality and compliance with the School of Nursing Evaluation Plan and program benchmarks
- Collaborate with faculty, clinical partners, and school leadership to support student success and program development
Faculty Role and Impact As a Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, or Clinical Associate Professor, the successful candidate will contribute to the educational, scholarly, clinical, and community service missions of the School of Nursing. Our clinical faculty lead innovative, student-centered teaching and experiential learning that prepares graduates with the advanced clinical reasoning, leadership, and practice competencies needed to thrive in today's complex healthcare environment. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and curriculum development within the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program and related graduate courses. Faculty members are encouraged to bring creativity and innovation to their teaching and are supported in advancing the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, including the development, evaluation, and dissemination of innovative educational practices. Faculty appointed at the Clinical Assistant and Clinical Associate Professor levels are also expected to contribute to the broader mission of a major research-intensive university through scholarship, practice, and professional service. Opportunities to maintain clinical practice may be available, supporting continued engagement in adult-gerontology acute care and strengthening the integration of clinical experience in teaching.

Required Qualifications:
- Valid Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner NYS and National Certification (AGNP-AC)
- Valid NY State Professional Nurse License
- Recent Nurse Practitioner Experience in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care
- Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent - Earned or In Progress)
- Upper Division Teaching Experience
- Experience Precepting Nurse Practitioner Students
- Leadership/Supervisory Experience
