Managing Project Coordinator Prior Learning Assessment

The Managing Project Coordinator of Prior Learning Assessment has overall responsibility for ensuring that Excelsior University’s goals and mission related to credit aggregation are met through providing oversight for the coordination of all activities related to Prior Learning Assessment (PLA); including ensuring the appropriate assignment of academic credit for various prior learning practices. These practices may include military and corporate training. this job offer is located out of the university’s home office in Albany, NY with the option of considering remote candidates. Remote employees will have mandatory occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and professional development opportunities. Remote employees are expected to be available during work hours 8:30am – 5:00pm Eastern time. The University will supply necessary equipment to execute the essential functions of this job (e.g., laptop, docking station). Employees are responsible for having a workspace where they can participate in virtual meetings without multiple interruptions and noise.

tasks and Responsibilities:

»Develop project plans and connected documents including communication plans to effectively convey project expectations to PLA stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.

»Coordinate and collaborate with the academic deans, faculty and other key constituencies to review requests for approval of credits for various prior learning practices to ensure that the appropriate reviews and assessments are completed.

»Conduct training sessions for faculty, advisors and admissions staff to assist them in knowledge their functions in the PLA process.

»Develop policies and procedures for the assessment of training/credentials for potential college-level credits.

»Explain the process for requesting credit for prior learning with employers, government agencies, and other organizations.

»Serve as the single-point-of-contact for any questions regarding the project schedule, scope or resources to answer questions related to PLA projects.

»Manage PLA projects, including information on credits awarded, prosperous applications, methods used to award credit, and prepare project status reports.

»Maintain and update all print and electronic media regarding current practices, policies and procedures regarding the awarding of credit for prior learning and create new materials.

»Monitor and evaluate PLA activities to ensure quality services to students, academic integrity of the process, and compliance with guidelines of external organizations that certify the University’s accreditation.

Qualifications required

»Bachelor's degree required.

»Two-three years’ job practice in a high-level coordinator or project management function including knowledge of practices and procedures awarding credit for prior learning preferred.

» capability to manage complex projects and analyze large amounts of data, documents, and official transcripts.
