About the Position

Job Title: PCU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years License: NY license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Minimum 1 year of experience in PCU/IMC - Telemetry experience - Ability to manage cardiac drips - Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation - IV insulin protocol knowledge - Management of feeding tubes and bladder irrigation - Blood product administration - Central line and PICC line management Description: This is a mixed acuity unit focusing on PCU and MS Tele patients. The unit handles surgical pre and post-operative care, ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, and orthopedic surgery. Overflow medical diagnosis patients may also be assigned. Rare pediatric patients are present, and travelers will not be assigned to them unless experienced. Patient ratios are adjusted based on acuity, with 1:3-5 during days and weekends, and 1:3-6 during nights. Staff may be floated to corresponding sister units as needed. Essential skills include management of dysrhythmias, post-myocardial infarction (MI) care, and titration of insulin drips. Nursing duties include starting IVs, administering IV medications, and providing care for patients with various medical conditions. Experience with isolation precautions and wound care is also required. Charting system used in the facility is EPIC. The unit supports interdisciplinary care, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates are expected to perform in a fast-paced environment with mixed patient acuity levels.
