Make a difference in a child's life as the Family Service Coordinator/Preschool Special Education Social Worker for the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) Albany Site at 52 Corporate Circle, Albany NY. The site has three self-contained classrooms for preschool children with disabilities (ages 3-5) and one integrated classroom.

Successful candidates will exhibit the ability to interact with staff, families and students in a positive encouraging way, demonstrate a professional demeanor, patience, empathy and a positive attitude while possessing a desire to help others grow. Interpersonal, problem solving skills and commitment to the team model is required. Excellent clinical skills and ability to train and coordinate services is necessary.

Family Service Coordinator/Social Worker Responsibilities:

• Provide developmentally appropriate individual counseling and group counseling/social skills groups within the school setting
• Possess the knowledge and skills needed to provide families with support and advocacy to families in accessing relevant community resources such as SSI, OPWDD, WIC, community based counseling agencies, emergency housing and assistance, etc.
• Act as a liaison between home and school, supporting families to be informed advocates for their child
• Provide clinical knowledge and support to the child's team
• Provide administrative support to the site coordinator
• Conduct Social History on multidisciplinary evaluations

Qualifications:

• LMSW required and LCSW preferred with appropriate NYS certification/licensure
• Experience in preschool and/or Early Intervention special education services is preferred.

Competitive Salary:

• Based upon experience and certification
• 35 hours per week position (30-35 hours if preferred)

Starting salary for 35 hour position is $52,000 for a licensed social worker. Salary is based on experience.
