Captain / Lead Server
Balade is a beloved Lebanese restaurant in the East Village helmed by Chef Suha Rihan, holding a 4.7 rating on OpenTable across 1,000+ reviews and a history of recognition from Michelin's Bib Gourmand and Zagat. We're looking for a Captain / Lead Server to anchor our floor and elevate every guest's experience from the moment they walk in
What You'll Do
- Lead the flow of service on the floor, executing Balade's SOPs with precision and consistency
- Take tables and orders directly, hosting and seating guests as needed
- Set the tone for exceptional, attentive guest experiences from welcome to farewell
- Guide guests through wine selection and pairing recommendations with confidence
- Oversee front-of-house inventory counts and ordering
- Maintain immaculate cleanliness and organization standards throughout service
- Mentor and support the server team, modeling professionalism and accountability
- Operate with full transparency with management on service, inventory, and team performance
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Captain, Lead Server, or senior server in a high-volume or upscale dining environment
- Strong working knowledge of wine service and pairing
- Comfortable handling hosting and table service duties hands-on, not just supervising
- Open/full availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- A dedicated, professional approach to the job — this is a career role, not a side gig
- Excellent communication and leadership skills under pressure
- Genuine hospitality instincts and a guest-first mindset
