Maintenance Liaison – Affordable Housing Community (180 Units, Waterfront)
Location: Poughkeepsie, NY
Pay: $25-27/hour
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Maintenance Liaison to support a 180-unit affordable housing community in Poughkeepsie undergoing a major capital improvement project. This role will serve as a key point of coordination between internal property management/maintenance teams and external construction vendors, ensuring projects are executed efficiently with minimal disruption to residents.
This is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance professional looking to step into a more coordination-focused role while remaining hands-on with property operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination & Communication:
- Act as the primary liaison between ownership/management, on-site maintenance staff, and third-party construction teams
- Facilitate clear communication regarding project timelines, scope, and updates
- Coordinate access to units and common areas for scheduled work
- Ensure projects stay on track and escalate any delays or issues as needed
Property & Unit Inspections:
- Conduct regular inspections of apartments, common areas, and exterior spaces
- Identify maintenance concerns and ensure they are addressed in conjunction with ongoing renovation work
- Monitor quality of work performed by contractors and vendors
Scheduling & Planning Support:
- Assist in developing and adjusting project schedules to minimize resident disruption
- Provide input based on property conditions and maintenance priorities
- Coordinate with residents and staff to ensure smooth workflow during renovations
Maintenance & Operations Support:
- Collaborate with on-site maintenance team to align daily operations with construction activity
- Help track work orders related to renovation and general maintenance needs
- Maintain organized documentation of project progress, inspections, and communications
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in property maintenance, facilities, or construction coordination required
- Experience with affordable housing (LIHTC, Section 8, or similar) preferred
- Strong understanding of building systems and general maintenance practices
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in an active construction environment
- Comfortable performing frequent property and unit inspections
