Tier 2 Linux Engineer (Onsite - Westbury, Long Island)

We are looking for a Tier 2 Linux Engineer to join our onsite team in Westbury, Long Island . This full-time, hands-on role is perfect for someone with strong Linux experience who enjoys working in dynamic environments and solving real-world technical problems.

Responsibilities:

• Provide Tier 2 support for Linux-based systems (primarily Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL)
• Troubleshoot OS, application, and networking issues across production and internal systems
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and system configurations
• Maintain and configure services such as Apache/Nginx, SSH, DNS, DHCP, MySQL/PostgreSQL
• Monitor system performance and security using standard tools (e.g., top, journalctl, fail2ban)
• Assist with backup, patching, and scripting for automation
• Collaborate with other engineers and escalate issues as needed
• Document procedures, incidents, and resolutions in the ticketing system

Requirements

Requirements:

• 3+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience
• Proficiency with command line tools, shell scripting (bash), and standard Linux utilities
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and basic firewall rules (iptables or ufw)
• Ability to troubleshoot services, logs, and performance issues
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Must be able to work onsite daily in Westbury, NY
• 4 days (32 hours) per week including evenings and weekends.
• Reliable transportation is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, cron scripting)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with containers (Docker) or virtualization (KVM, VMware)
• Knowledge of version control (Git) and ticketing systems (e.g., ConnectWise, Jira)
