JOB DESCRIPTION

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Director of Product Management to lead the strategy for our Content & Engagement roadmap, in deep partnership with editorial and marketing stakeholders, across FOX News, FOX Business, OutKick and FOX Weather digital properties. This role requires someone who can combine editorial fluency with product expertise and is passionate about news.

You'll be the bridge between editorial teams, business stakeholders, and engineering; someone who understands the urgency of news, the complexities of 24/7 coverage, and the technical realities of digital platforms. You’ll set priorities based on editorial and audience needs, ensuring we’re shipping features that serve our content creators as well as our readers and viewers. Success requires technical credibility (you can speak engineering's language), editorial fluency (you understand news operations), and political savvy (you can navigate multiple business units with competing priorities).

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Editorial Partnership

  • Build and maintain deep relationships with editorial leaders

  • Deeply understand editorial workflows, breaking news operations, and content strategies

  • Attend editorial meetings to understand priorities and identify product opportunities

  • Translate editorial needs and business requirements into clear product strategies and roadmaps

  • Manage expectations across multiple business units with competing priorities

  • Define success metrics for editorial and audience engagement initiatives; measure and communicate impact

  • Make strategic product decisions about what to build, what to defer, and how to sequence editorial-focused features

  • Partner with editorial and engineering to define readiness standards and feature requirements for tentpole events, translating coverage priorities into product decisions under real-time constraints.

Marketing & Campaign Partnership

  • Partner with marketing teams on campaign requirements, promotional experiences, and special editorial projects

  • Coordinate product support for tentpole events, special coverage, and marketing campaigns

  • Balance marketing requests with editorial priorities and engineering capacity

Product Strategy & Roadmap Management

  • Own the Content and Engagement product strategy and roadmap: content discovery, interactivity, video experiences and tentpole events

  • Lead product strategy for high-stakes live coverage moments — including elections, breaking news, and major scheduled events — ensuring FOX News digital products deliver reliable, differentiated experiences during peak audience demand.

  • Partner with Acquisition & Retention and Core Experiences pillar leads to ensure Content & Engagement initiatives are sequenced against shared platform investments and cross-pillar dependencies.

  • Prioritize across business units based on impact, strategic value, and organizational capacity

  • Partner with other digital leaders to ensure your portfolio benefits from platform investments

  • Define success metrics for initiatives; measure and communicate impact to stakeholders

  • Create transparent roadmaps that set clear expectations with stakeholders and the wider product organization

  • Collaborate with engineering leadership early and often to ensure technical feasibility and architecture decisions are understood

  • Work backwards from a North Star vision based on functional discussions to balance high standards and the quickest delivery of value to our business and customers

  • Collaborate with analytics teams to understand user behavior, content performance, and business metrics

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage a team of product managers across key workstreams within your domain area

  • Set clear expectations about decision-making authority and escalation

  • Create clarity on priorities for teams supporting the content and engagement roadmap

  • Ensure resources are allocated according to priorities and work planned

  • Foster collaborative culture between product, editorial, marketing, and engineering teams

  • Develop team's understanding of news operations, audience behavior, and business models

  • Partner with team on adoption of AI workflows to increase productivity and strategic capacity

AI-Powered Ways of Working

  • Demonstrate active, practiced use of AI agents across research, synthesis, PRD drafting, stakeholder communications, and sprint preparation

  • Set expectations for AI fluency across the PM team as a standard of practice

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Required

  • 10+ years product management experience with 3+ years leading product teams or senior product roles

  • Deep passion for news, journalism, and understanding of editorial workflows and content strategy

  • Experience building digital media products, content platforms, or audience-facing consumer products

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with editorial, business, and technical stakeholders

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills: navigate competing priorities, manage expectations, build consensus

  • Read and interpret data: ability to work with analytics tools to answer product questions

  • Understand web and mobile architecture well enough to discuss technical decisions with engineering

  • Basic understanding of APIs, content management systems, and digital media infrastructure

  • Comfort with technical documentation and ability to review technical specifications

  • Familiarity with SEO, content discovery, and how audiences find and consume news

  • Excellent communication skills: can translate between editorial, business, and technical languages

  • Experience managing competing priorities across multiple stakeholders and business units

  • Active user of AI tools for productivity (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) with willingness to develop these skills further

  • Regular, on-site attendance at the workplace a minimum of 3 days per week is an essential function of the position. Selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Track record growing audience engagement metrics (time spent, return visits, content depth)

  • Familiarity with CMS platforms, editorial workflows, or publishing toolchains

  • Experience at digital news organizations or media companies during election cycles or major news events

  • Background in audience growth, engagement optimization, or content strategy

  • Understanding of digital advertising and monetization

  • Experience managing operations teams or support functions
