Job Title: Mental Health Clinician Location: Bronx, NY (600 East 181st Street) — On-Site & Field-Based Client: Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS) Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Schedule: Standard Business Hours

Position Summary Randstad is seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join CUCS supporting residential programming at 600 East 181st Street in the Bronx. This role provides psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and case management to formerly homeless individuals living with mental illness or special needs. It blends direct clinical care with informal team leadership to guide case managers and support supervisor coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform mental status exams, psychosocial evaluations, intakes, and DSM-based diagnoses.

• Provide individual, group, and substance use counseling using evidence-based, trauma-informed practices.

• Deliver crisis de-escalation, safety planning, and care coordination with emergency and psychiatric providers.

• Help clients secure public benefits (SSI/SSDI, Medicaid), manage rep payee funds, and maintain housing.

• Provide community-based outreach and escort clients to medical, legal, and benefit appointments.

• Assist with daily living skills (ADLs), apartment inspections, and pest/hoarding remediation protocols.

• Facilitate team meetings, guide Case Managers, train staff, and supervise interns.

• Maintain accurate EHR documentation and meet required monthly client contact targets.

Qualifications & Experience Tiers

• Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, MFT, or related human services field required.

• Experience Tiers:
  • Level 1: Master’s degree + 1 year clinical/case management experience.

  • Level 2: Master’s degree + 2 years experience in supportive housing/community mental health.

  • Level 3: Master’s degree (or active LMSW/LMHC/LMFT) + 3 years relevant clinical experience.

  • Level 4: Active LCSW/LMHC + 2 years post-license experience including staff/intern mentoring.

• Licensure: LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, or limited permit preferred (permit counts toward 1 year experience).

Responsibilities

Clinical & Assessment Services

• Diagnostic Evaluations: Perform mental status exams (MSEs), psychosocial assessments, intakes, and DSM-based diagnoses.

• Psychotherapy: Deliver individual, group, and substance use counseling using evidence-based practices.

• Treatment Planning: Create and update person-centered Individualized Service Plans (ILPs).

Crisis Intervention & Outreach

• Crisis Management: Provide trauma-informed de-escalation, safety planning, and emergency coordination.

• Community Care: Escort clients to medical, legal, and benefit appointments; coordinate with hospitals and care providers.

• Health Support: Assist with medication self-administration and psychiatric care (Janian Medical).

Housing & Case Management

• Housing Services: Assist with applications, inspections, landlord relations, and housing retention.

• Benefits & Finances: Help secure public benefits (SSI/SSDI, Medicaid) and manage representative payee funds.

• ADL Support: Assist with hygiene, home maintenance, hoarding mitigation, and pest remediation protocols.

Leadership & Operations

• Team Guidance: Facilitate meetings, provide crisis guidance, and step in for the Clinical Supervisor when needed.

• Mentorship: Guide Case Managers, run in-service trainings, and supervise interns.

• Compliance: Maintain timely EHR documentation and meet monthly contact hour targets.
