Code Enforcement Official
Your impact
Perform NYS building code inspections on construction projects within Region 7 at various state facilities, inclusive of correctional facilities. Be a resource for the region to answer code related questions. Issue field inspection reports detailing any code deficiencies observed. At the on-set of new projects, hold a coordination meeting with construction management staff to identify required inspection points during the course of the project.
Here's what you'll need
- Two (2) years experience in code enforcement- / compliance-related work including conducting investigations, conducting research, and resolving complaints, concerns or conflicts.
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain City codes and site plans, maps, and work plans.
- Handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; make presentations.
- Current state motor vehicle driver’s license required.
- Must be capable of personally driving a company vehicle in the performance of the duties contained herein.
- Obtain state certification from Colorado Association of Code Enforcement (CACEO), as soon as course is offered.
- Possess an OSHA 10 Certification or has the ability to obtain within the first 30 days of employment
Ideally you’ll have:
- Associates degree in Fire Technology, Environment Studies, Chemistry, Law Enforcement, Construction Technology, Planning, Public Administration or a closely related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in the code enforcement / compliance field.
- Knowledge of general construction practices, procedures and requirements; knowledge of dispute resolution techniques and methods.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials.

The base salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to $95,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
