Physician (Non-Invasive Cardiologist) (New York)
Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing requirements may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who initially met the requirements under previous standards are deemed to have met the basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable, in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited school.
- The degree must be obtained from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs in the year of completion.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board eligibility.
- Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs who meet other requirements are eligible for appointment as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed and only appointed on an intermittent or fee basis. They are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged, but may perform certain duties under supervision.

Duties
- Participate in VA's comprehensive total rewards package, including competitive salary, bonuses, and benefits.

- Provide outpatient cardiology services at the Bath, NY VA Medical Center, with occasional travel to other Finger Lakes Healthcare locations.
- Interpret EKGs, transthoracic echocardiograms, ambulatory monitors, and participate in exercise ECGs and stress echocardiograms.
- Work schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday.
